Walker College welcomes five new faculty members for Spring 2020 term

The Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University announces the appointments of five new faculty members and two new staff members.

Computer Information Systems

The Department of Computer Information Systems welcomes Darin Hodges. Hodges will serve as a lecturer of information systems and business analytics. Hodges is a two-time graduate of the Walker College, having earned his BSBA and MBA from Appalachian. He is completing a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Economics

The Department of Economics welcomes Dr. Nathaniel Wilcox. His research interests include experimental and statistical methods. Previously, Dr. Wilcox taught at Chapman University and the University of Houston. Management

The Department of Management welcomes Mr. David Cook, who will serve as a lecturer. Mr. Cook also serves as director of constituency relations in Appalachian's Chancellor's Office, and previously served as a program manager in academic affairs. He holds a bachelor's degree from Embry Riddle University and a master's degree in management and leadership from Montreat College. Marketing and Supply Chain Management

The Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management welcome two new faculty members: Lecturers Carrie Morgan and Mike Ogle.

Ms. Carrie Morgan brings to her role experience as a project manager, research analyst and regulatory reporting analyst. She earned her bachelor's in education from Pennsylvania State University and her MBA from Goldey-Beacom College. She can be reached by email, morganca1@appstate.edu

Dr. Mike Ogle's research interests include supply chain management, physical internet, material handling and warehousing. Previously, Dr. Ogle served as senior director of research and academic engagement at APICS/ASCM, as an assistant professor of systems engineering at UNC Charlotte and as vice president of educational and technical services at MHI. He earned his master's from the University of Arkansas and his PhD in industrial engineering from Arizona State University. He can be reached by email, oglemk@appstate.edu.

Business Career Services

Jan Stanley is a staff member in Business Career Services working with Walker Spring Connect, pre-admissions and Walker Fellows, the ambassadorial group of the Walker College. An alumna of UNC-Chapel Hill and Appalachian, Jan has significant experience working with college students having previously retired from Appalachian as the director of the James Center in the Reich College of Education. Dean's Office

Mandy Southern is an administrative support specialist in the Walker College's office. Previously, Southern served as an international projects and administrative coordinator for Samaritan's Purse International Relief where she collaborated across five teams in the US, UK and Canada to recruit, train and deploy disaster relief, coordinating international and domestic travel, conducting research and providing administrative support. Prior to that role, Southern served as an administrative and domestic operations coordinator for the organization's Operation Christmas Child. She can be reached by email, southernmn@appstate.edu.

The new faculty and staff members join a team of nearly 150 business faculty and staff members already in place, including 22 from Fall 2019.
