The Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University announces the appointments of ten new faculty and staff members to begin the Spring 2023 semester.
Department of Accounting
Tim Walker
Tim Walker, CMA, joins the Department of Accounting as an adjunct faculty member. He serves as Director of Finance for Lab Schools and previously served as an adjunct lecturer at App State. Walker is a two-time App State alumnus, having earned a Master of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration from the Walker College of Business, as well as a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Department of Computer Information Systems
The Department of Computer Information Systems welcomes three new team members, lecturer Scott Jensen and adjunct faculty members Fred Woolard and Gary Young.
Scott Jensen

Fred Woolard

Gary Young
Gary Young joins the faculty at App State by way of Plotly, where he served as Executive Vice President. His research interests include data analytics, data science, AI and ML. Trent Arrowood
Trent Arrowood brings more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience to the faculty at App State, most recently serving as Senior Manager of Digital Strategy & Innovation for Altria Client Services. Arrowood holds two Bachelor’s degrees from Appalachian State University: a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management from the Walker College of Business, and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a concentration in American Politics from the College of Arts and Sciences. Maria Barringer

Adjunct faculty member Laura Pell has served as an assistant director and career coach in App State's Career Development Center. Mallory Garrison
Mallory Garrison joins the staff in the Walker College of Business' Academic Advising Office. She is a recent graduate of App State, having earned her Bachelors of Science in Fine Arts. Zoe Huffines
Zoe Huffines serves as the Assistant Director of Business Career Services within the Walker College of Business. Before working in Business Career Services, Huffines worked as a recruiting ambassador for Watauga Residential College. She is passionate about student success, community development, and interdisciplinary studies. Huffines graduated from Appalachian State with a Bachelor's degree in management and minors in sustainable business and experiential, integrative learning. She is a former Women of Walker member, Walker Fellow, ACCESS scholar, and the first Lewis Scholar. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education.
