Center for Analytics Research and Education Director Joseph Cazier has been named UNC General Administration Fellow in Technology Commercialization.
Reporting to University of North Carolina System Vice President for Research Christopher Brown, Cazier is charged with improving the state’s technology innovation commercialization and high-tech business activity. He will also work to realize the potential for greater economic impact through improved and increased university innovation commercialization activities.
The appointment, which is effective January 2016, is part of a new initiative in which faculty and staff in the UNC system serve as part-time visiting fellows within UNC GA, the central office that supports all 17 UNC campuses.
In addition to directing CARE, Cazier is also a Dean's Club Professor in Computer Information Systems where he focuses on the use of Big Data and Analytics to solve meaningful real world problems. Additionally, Cazier has a background in science as a researcher for a large biotechnology company, a technologist with degrees and work experience in information systems, an entrepreneur with experience with several start ups, and as a university administrator.
