Finance alumnus shares why he supports the Mountaineer Emergency Fund

Appalachian State University's University Advancement Office recently sent an email to alumni featuring alumnus Mac Shelton '17 FIN. The email explained why Shelton recently decided to support the Mountaineer Emergency Fund (MEF).

"When I was at Appalachian, my good friend faced financial struggles that kept him from completing his degree," said Shelton. "His story is why I choose to give to the Mountaineer Emergency Fund. It's clear that my donation directly impacts students who are struggling to pay for their rent, meals or medical expenses. When we come together to support Mountaineers, anything is possible."

Shelton is an associate at Gryphon Investors and  2nd Lieutenant in the NC National Guard. At Appalachian, Shelton was a member of the Walker College of Business' Bowden Investment Group, Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society and William R. Holland Fellows. He was named the top finance student in 2017.

MEF information dated August 27, 2020.
