Marketing professor earns teaching award from UNC Board of Governors

Six App State faculty members were recently honored by the UNC Board of Governors with campus-based awards for their innovative teaching methods in the classroom and for making a difference in the way students learn. Among them was Dr. Bonnie Guy -- a professor in the Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Management.

Dr. Guy is the Director of the Professional Selling Program in the Walker College. She teaches Professional Selling, special topics courses in Sales, and she supervises the Sales internships. She has previously been honored by the college, having earned the 2020 Sywassink Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Guy holds the John W. Guffey Jr. Professorship in Marketing.

Dr. Guy's research interests include the marketing of social causes, medical tourism, and various sales-related topics. Her service to the university includes having launched and grown the Professional Selling Program, which serves over 200 students through its concentration for Marketing majors, minors for both business and non-business majors, as well as numerous professional development and company networking opportunities. Dr. Guy earned a BBA in Marketing and an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University and a PhD in Marketing from the University of Nebraska.

Dr. Guy's research interests include older consumers and cognitive processing and consumer ambivalence, among others. Her service the university includes having launched and maintained the Professional Selling Program at Appalachian. Dr. Guy earned a BBA in marketing and an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University and a PhD in marketing from the University of Nebraska.
