John Whitehead, a professor in the Department of Economics in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business, has earned the Quality Matters (QM) certification for MBA 5110: Economics for Decision Making.
Dr. Whitehead's course is the 8th QM-certified MBA course and the 27th QM-certified course overall at Appalachian. View a list of QM-certified courses at App State.
MBA 5110 examines the analytical techniques used by decision-makers to address such issues as demand analysis and forecasting, production and cost analysis, the strategy and tactics of pricing and output decision, and risk and uncertainty. Dr. Whitehead partnered with App State's Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) to attain the certification. CAE offers up to six faculty members the opportunity to participate in the program each year, with a goal to rethink, redesign and apply online pedagogy in the design and development of a high-quality online course.
“With the addition of Dr. Whitehead's course, the MBA/WCOB footprint continues to grow among all QM-certified online course offerings at App State," said Greg Simmons, lead CAE consultant for the Walker College of Business. "It remains the largest block of certified courses in any program on our campus.”
