Jim Westerman, James E. Holshouser Distinguished Professor in Ethics at Appalachian State University and chair of the Walker College of Business Sustainability Steering Committee, recently delivered a plenary address on sustainable plastics for Kristu Jayanti College, an App State partner institution in Bangalore, India.
Dr. Westerman's talk, "The Problem with Plastics and Emerging Solutions," was part of an International SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Conference entitled Earth for All, which was held virtually on Earth Day — April 22, 2024.
The conference centered around Sustainable Development Goal 12: Ensure sustainable production and consumption patterns, and was a United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) event."
United Nations Academic Impact hubs are UNAI member institutions that have been selected to be centers of research and innovation on a specific UNAI principle. Kristu Jayanti College is the home of UNAI SDG Hub 1: No Poverty.
