Five students from Appalachian State University's Walker College of Business earned top spots during the college's Excel competition on February 25.
The students are:
- Connor Perdue (Finance & Banking)
- Enzo Ramos (Economics, Finance & Banking, Accounting minor)
- Rachel Hamlin (Computer Information Systems, International Business)
- Nicolas Lievano (Accounting, Finance & Banking)
- Avery Clark (Digital Marketing)
Participants had 30 minutes to solve a series of increasingly difficult spreadsheet tasks. The primary goals of the competition were to encourage the development of Excel and problem-solving skills.
The Walker College Dean’s Office funded awards of $300, $200, and $100 to the top three performers.
The competition is “a challenging and fun experience” that “pushes you to excel beyond the classroom,” said Perdue.
Hamlin said the event helps “build skills useful for a career in business.”
