Appalachian State University's Student Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-ASC) has earned the 2024–2025 Outstanding Chapter Award, the highest recognition granted by the national SHRM group to student chapters.
The award celebrates the App State group's exceptional efforts in fostering student growth through professional development, community engagement, and applied HR experiences.
Highlights from the award cycle include attending the annual meeting of NCSHRM, hosting dynamic guest speakers and workshops, developing a partnership with the Catawba Valley SHRM Chapter for networking and outreach, conducting hands-on HR research with local organizations, and creating professional development opportunities (e.g., holding a business etiquette dinner).

About Clubs in the Walker College of Business
Participating in clubs and organizations are an important part of the App State experience. Part of the university's mission is to help students develop skills so they will become good citizens and strong contributors in their current and future communities. Joining a business-oriented club further develops students as professionals and, along with their major coursework, helps orient members to their fields of choice.
