Student leaders from eight highly engaged organizations in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business participated in a Reverse Career Fair held in conjunction with Walker Spring Connect, the college’s signature spring career fair, on March 5, 2026.
The event took place during the employer luncheon, immediately preceding the main career fair. This format allowed employers to circulate among student organization tables, giving students the opportunity to showcase their accomplishments, discuss organizational initiatives, and directly engage with industry professionals. Student leaders also joined employers for lunch, strengthening networking and relationship-building opportunities.
Recognizing Outstanding Engagement and Leadership
Participants in the Reverse Career Fair earned their place through exceptional involvement in the Presidents’ Roundtable, a college-wide leadership development program designed for presidents, executive members, and directors of business-oriented student clubs and organizations. The program provides exclusive professional development opportunities and fosters collaboration among student leaders as they work to promote their respective organizations and address shared challenges.
Organizations selected for this year’s event were recognized for outstanding performance in:
- Meeting participation
- Club promotion and support
- Engagement with Business Career Services
- Participation in college-wide events
The 2026 participating organizations included:
- American Marketing Association
- Appalachian Information Technology Professionals
- Appalachian Supply Chain Club
- Association of Latino Professionals for America
- Bowden Investment Group
- Pi Sigma Epsilon
- Society for Human Resource Management
- Student Sustainable Business Association
Strengthening Student Success Through Experiential Learning
The Reverse Career Fair reflects the Walker College’s commitment to providing transformative educational experiences. By connecting student leaders with employers in an interactive setting, the event further contributes to meaningful connections between students and industry professionals.
Developed by Abby Brannen, a staff member on the Walker College’s Business Career Services team, the event supports key college-wide priorities.
“Our goal was to strengthen career readiness, community engagement, and experiential learning,” said Brannen. “Events like the Reverse Career Fair help ensure that students graduate with the practical skills and professional connections needed to thrive in today’s evolving workplace.”
