The Polished Peacock Professional Clothing Boutique on September 16, 4:00-7:00 p.m., will provide the opportunity for Appalachian State University students to shop and select free professional attire while learning about dress etiquette in the workplace.
"As the Walker College of Business student population grows, the need for consistent professional and business casual clothing assistance has increased," said Michelle Brown, a career coach in the college's Business Career Services office who is helping coordinate the event. "Suits and business attire for career fairs, networking events, internships and work settings can be expensive and are sometimes unattainable for students."
While shopping, students can enjoy appetizers and coffee, receive a free swag bag of clothing and hygiene essentials, and win raffle prizes.
The Polished Peacock is one of many ways the college is preparing its students for successful careers. The college will host its signature fall career fair, Walker Business Connections, on Thursday, October 1.
