Appalachian State University’s Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) student chapter has received a 2025–26 Outstanding Chapter Award, a national honor recognizing excellence in chapter operations, student engagement and service to aspiring HR professionals.
The award recognizes student chapters that provide meaningful programs and services for members while fostering leadership development and professional growth.
“The members of our SHRM student chapters represent the next generation of HR leaders, and their passion, talent, and commitment are vital to the future of our profession,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, President & CEO, SHRM. “The accomplishments of App State's chapter reflect the innovation, leadership, and dedication that will shape tomorrow’s workplaces. I applaud their success and ability to drive innovative programming, professional development, and a deeper interest in HR.”
“Receiving SHRM’s Outstanding Chapter Award reflects the dedication and leadership of our student members,” said Dr. Jess Doll, a faculty advisor for App State’s SHRM chapter. “Their commitment to professional development and service continues to strengthen our chapter and prepare students for successful careers in human resources.”
Doll added that only 12 student chapters globally are awarded this distinction each year.
The App State SHRM chapter is part of the Department of Management in the Walker College of Business. It helps students build professional skills through networking, leadership and career development opportunities.
SHRM was also recently recognized as App State's 2026 Outstanding General Organization Awardee.
