More than 150 Appalachian State University students connected with banking professionals during Bank Day on Sept. 9 in Peacock Hall, creating valuable opportunities to explore careers, build professional networks and learn firsthand about the banking industry.
"Bank Day is an opportunity for students to interact directly with bankers and ask questions about careers and internships," said Dr. Harry Davis, App State's NCBA Professor of Banking. Davis credited the event's strong turnout and impact to the collaborative efforts of Walker College Business Career Services staff, engaged students, and the NCBA – the North Carolina Bankers Association, which supported participation from banking leaders and a visit from the North Carolina Commissioner of Banks.
Representatives from nine banks joined students on campus in Boone for the annual networking event, which brought together future business leaders and industry professionals from across North Carolina.

"Bank Day reflects the Walker College's strategic commitment to expanding opportunities for students to engage with the business community," said Walker College Dean Dr. Sandra Vannoy, who was also in attendance. "We are strengthening relationships with employers and industry leaders while creating meaningful connections that support student success."
Bank Day is one of many Walker College initiatives designed to strengthen connections between students and industry. Through events like these, students gain access to industry leaders, expand their professional networks and explore internship and career opportunities, while employers engage with the leaders of tomorrow.
