The Walker College of Business offer students the opportunity to develop international business skills through either a BSBA in International Business or an International Business Minor.
The International Business (IB) major was established in 2002. The major is designed to prepare students for a career in international business or public service through the development of competency in a foreign language and cultural awareness and providing students with specialized international business skills. The major's interdisciplinary curriculum includes specially-designed international business courses in addition to the broad core curriculum of the business administration degree. The IB major also requires a minor in a foreign language, to be selected from Chinese, French, German, Spanish or other approved language. It also requires an international experience, which is generally a semester study abroad at one of our partner institutions or an internship. Due to the required international experience and the foreign language minor, it is critical that students majoring in international business carefully plan their coursework with their academic advisor.
The International Business minor provides multidisciplinary business training designed to complement the student’s functional major. This allows students the opportunity to develop their functional skills while utilizing their elective hours to study the international aspects of business.
