App State economists examine the profitability of contact lenses in eye care practices

Appalachian State University Professors of Economics Dr. Ash Morgan and Dr. John Whitehead recently co-authored a report on contact lens profitability (alongside Dr. Philip Morgan of the University of Manchester and Dr. Lyndon Jones of the University of Waterloo).

The analysis, which took place in coordination with the Contact Lens Institute, found that soft contact lens patients are more profitable for practices than glasses-only wearers. The researchers examined four years of anonymized data from 20 U.S. eyecare practices.

The study was recently referenced in invisionmag.com's article, "Teen Eye Exams Lag and More of What You Need to Know for the Start of Fall."
