Data analytics graduate student to attend SouthEast SAS Users Group conference

Appalachian State University graduate student Gopika Malik has received an academic student grant to attend the SouthEast SAS® Users Group (SESUG) conference.

Malik is a student in Appalachian's Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics program who also serves as co-captain of Appalachian’s Analytics Team. Malik is a SAS certified programmer as well as a  Google Cloud Ready facilitator for Appalachian.

The SouthEast SAS® Users Group (SESUG) is a Regional Users Group (RUG) for users of SAS Software. SESUG's mission is to serve and support users of SAS software in the southeastern United States through ongoing education, professional development opportunities, and facilitating communication with SAS.

I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge and skills about using SAS in today's world with Git, APIs and Cloud computing," said Malik. "I'm happy to be a part of the MSADA program wherein we are encouraged to apply for such great opportunities to enhance my skill set in the journey to become a Data Scientist!"

Malik was encouraged to apply for her grant by Dr. Jason Xiong, who serves as acting director of the Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics program.
