Dixon-Fowler named assistant department chair in management

Heather Dixon-Fowler has been named assistant chair of the Department of Management in the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University, effective July 1, 2017.

Dixon-Fowler joins Jacqui Bergman, who has served as department chair since 2013, and Maira Compagnone, who has served as administrative specialist since 2014, to complete the departmental administration.

As an associate professor in the department, Dixon-Fowler has taught a variety of entrepreneurship courses, supervised the entrepreneurship summer internship program, developed the first undergraduate social entrepreneurship course in the college, and co-developed and led entrepreneurship study-abroad programs to Vietnam, Panama, Spain and Malawi. Previously, Dixon-Fowler served as director for the Transportation Insight Center for Entrepreneurship

Dixon-Fowler's responsibilities will include assisting with departmental advising and registration, class scheduling, and teaching and room assignments. She will also serve as departmental liaison for program assessment activity, assist with student recruitment, and serve as the departmental representative on university and college committees as needed, as well as assist with the implementation and evaluation of short- and long-term goals, objectives, standards, programs and utilization of resources for the department.
