Members of Appalachian State University’s Martha Guy Business for Good Fellows recently visited Cary, NC, for a behind-the-scenes look at the partnerships that transformed downtown Cary and Downtown Cary Park.
The students met with leaders who shared the project's vision and how developing the seven-acre Downtown Cary Park helped transform the community.
The experience connected the first-generation transfer students with community and business leaders, providing them insight into strong leadership as well as economic development.
“Spending time with people who have built businesses, led significant projects, and shaped their communities exposes [the students] to possibilities and paths they may not otherwise get to see up close,” said program director Sara Figlow.
The fellows participate in experiences to broaden their perspectives and inspire career possibilities.
