Team of RMI students to compete in 2017 Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge

Appalachian State University is one of nine schools who will compete in the 2017 Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge in Philadelphia, PA.

The students are Risk, Management and Insurance majors in Appalachian's Walker College of Business.

They will compete during the RIMS 2017 Annual Conference & Exhibition April 23 – 26. The RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition brings 10,000 risk and insurance professionals together for a four-day educational and networking experience. The event offers more than 160 educational sessions, keynote presentations, special events and 400 exhibitors. 

The students are:

  • Aristotle Moulopoulos
  • John Rucker
  • Andrew Satterfield
  • Cecilia Yanez

The top teams were selected from a field of 23, based on the solutions developed for a case-study provided by PayPal Inc.

The teams are: 

  • Appalachian State University
  • British Columbia Institute of Technology (Canada)
  • Butler University
  • Florida State University
  • Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)
  • St. Joseph's University
  • St. Mary's University
  • Temple University
  • University of Wisconsin-Madison

Appalachian won the competition in 2015.
