Walker College of Business

The Walker College of Business hosted approximately 50 guests on Saturday, February 20, 2016 for Appalachian State University's annual Scholars Day. Hosted by the Appalachian's Office of Admissions, Scholars Day brings high-achieving, prospective students to campus to interview for some of the most prestigious scholarships available at the university.

The day-long program includes interviews at the Plemmons Student Union and departmental breakout sessions in the students' areas of interest. Scholars Day aims to recruit some of the best and brightest young minds to join the Appalachian Family.

Throughout the day, the representatives of the Walker College of Business (WCOB) gave presentations to the visitors, including an academic overview and information about programs of distinction. The departmental presentations provided more detailed information about the academics, resources and centers available to business students at Appalachian, intending to assist prospective students as they make an informed decision of where to hang their ‘academic hat.” 

Twenty-three students were interviewed by the Walker College for business-oriented scholarships. 

Members of the Walker Fellows, the student ambassadorial group of the college of business, were also on hand to lead tours for students and their families, offering a first-hand experience of student life at Appalachian, and in Peacock Hall.  

Overall, Scholars Day served as a very productive day for the Walker College of Business. It allowed for an opportunity to attract quality students not only to Appalachian, but also to our college," said Assistant Director of the BB&T Student Leadership Center Amy Odom, who was on hand for the event.

Prospective students will have another opportunity to visit campus and tour Peacock Hall during Spring Open House, scheduled for Saturday, April 16. 

The deadline to apply for Walker College of Business scholarships is Monday, February 29, 2016.
