Marketing Professors Neel Das and Pia Albinsson are co-teaching a class on new product development and brand management this summer on the campus of the Université d'Angers in Angers, France. The course, part of Appalachian State University's Angers Summer Business Program, enrolls both American and French students.
The Angers Summer Business Program enables students to take classes alongside Angers business students, learning international business skills, international finance and international brand management in particular, while experiencing French culture and language. Dr. Das is interested in the investigation of consumers' emotional and psychological states of mind (in a consumer decision making context) subsequent to post-purchase disconfirmation. Furthermore, he focuses on certain personality related variables and their effects on the experience of post-purchase emotions. His work has been published in such journals as Journal of Advertising and International Journal of Electronic Retailing and Marketing. He has also presented his research at national conferences conducted by the American Marketing Association, Society for Marketing Advances, and Fordham University Behavioral Pricing Center. He is a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and has been an ad hoc reviewer for Journal of Business Research and International Journal of Electronic Retailing and Marketing.
Dr. Albinsson's research interests are in the areas of collaborative consumption, green consumption practices, consumer activism, corporate social responsibility, advertising rhetoric, and advertising effectiveness. Her work has been published in the European Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Retailing and Distribution Management, Journal of Consumer Behaviour, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Psychology and Marketing, and Global Journal of Business Research, among others. She serves on the Editorial Review Board for Journal of Consumer Marketing and as secretary for Society for Marketing Advances. Dr. Albinsson recently received the 2016 China Studies Institute Zhi-Xing China Academic Leaders Fellowship sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), China, June 5-June 24, 2016. She was a fellow for Society for Marketing Advances Doctoral Consortium in St. Petersburg, FL (2008) and AMA-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium in Atlanta, GA (2009). Prior to academia, Dr. Albinsson spent several years working in the tourism industry in Greece, Malaysia and Portugal as well as with banking and marketing in her native Stockholm, Sweden.
Das' and Albinsson's course is taught on the Saint-Serge campus - a campus of Angers near the city center in the district of St. Sergius that brings together the economic, legal and tourism components of the University of Angers.
