Finance alumnus earns community involvement award

Finance & Banking and Risk Management & Insurance alumnus Matt Vincent '04 has earned the 2017 Wade Brown Award for Community Involvement, presented by the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce.

Vincent's was one of seven community awards presented August 3, 2017 during the 68th Annual Membership Meeting of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce.

Vincent is owner and president of VPC Builders, a full-service construction firm specializing in commercial and residential construction, custom home building, Green Building, and remodeling in North Carolina and South Carolina.

According to the Boone Chamber's news release about the awards, Vincent is a generous non-profit supporter and helped raise over $9,000 dollars for this year's Big Kahuna Fundraiser for the Watauga County Habitat for Humanity. Through his work at VPC Builders, Vincent has been an adamant supporter of Purple Heart Homes, a non-profit business that works to provide housing solutions for service connected disabled veterans.

The award has been given annually since 1979, and was presented by Boone Golf Club in honor of Wade Brown, a longtime community pillar and non-profit advocate.
