The addition to Peacock Hall was featured in Appalachian State University Chancellor Heather Norris' July 31, 2026, Inside Appalachian message.
In the caption for an image of "a great view of the exterior glass being installed for the new addition," Chancellor Norris noted, "It is inspiring to watch the new addition to Peacock Hall take shape each day, as we continue to build modern, interactive campus facilities and spaces to support App State Community members for generations to come."
"At our Boone campus, visible construction progress continues every day for Peacock Hall, home to the faculty, staff, and students of our nationally acclaimed Walker College of Business. Construction work for Peacock Hall’s four-story, 70,000-square-foot addition and partial renovation is now more than halfway completed, with exterior glass and brick columns nearly in place and interior mechanical, electrical and framing work advancing rapidly toward the addition’s scheduled 2027 opening. The project will create modern classrooms and spaces for study and collaboration, as well as interactive learning labs and campus event spaces. We are deeply grateful for the state and donor funding support that is bringing this project to fruition."
About the Building Leaders fundraising initiative
Appalachian State University is embarking on a renovation of and addition to Peacock Hall — home to the students, faculty and staff of the Walker College of Business. This marks the first large-scale refresh of these spaces in more than 30 years. There are extensive opportunities for how we can make changes that support our innovative teaching, learning and research practices. The university received $25 million in legislative funding to support the project as part of the FY 2021–22 biennial budget bill, signed into law by Gov. Roy Cooper on Nov. 18, 2021. As part of the FY 2023–24 biennial budget bill, the state allocated an additional $15 million in support of the project. The state's 2026-27 biennial budget saw an additional $5 million in support of the project. Gifts of any amount will benefit current and future Mountaineers who will live out their academic journeys in Peacock (formerly Raley) Hall.
