Lewis Scholars

About the program

An Appalachian premier scholarship for incoming freshmen, the Lewis Scholarship provides support to NC resident students committed to majoring in business who demonstrate significant academic achievement and potential. Recipients of the Lewis Scholarship receive full tuition and fees annually, renewable for three additional academic years. Students will be considered for the Lewis Scholarship when they complete the scholarship application as part of their application for admission to the university.

Mr. Ken Lewis

The Lewis Scholarship was established in 2020 by Kenneth D. "Ken" Lewis, former CEO, president and chairman of Bank of America, the second largest bank in the United States and twelfth largest by total assets worldwide. At Appalachian, the Lewis Scholarship succeeded the Lewis Family Scholarship, which was established in 2017 and was also funded by Mr. Lewis.
