Brandy Hadley has been named the David A. Thompson Professor of Applied Investments in Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business.

Dr. Brandy Hadley
Dr. Hadley is an associate professor in the Department of Finance Banking and Insurance and serves as advisor of the Bowden Investment Group. She also teaches Introduction to Finance; Financial Modeling and Valuation; Investment Management and FinTech/InsureTech.
Dr. Hadley’s research interests include corporate finance, corporate governance, executive compensation, political influence in finance and entrepreneurial finance. She is a two-time past recipient of the university’s Chancellor Innovation Scholars Program and a past recipient of the college’s Dean's Club Research Prize and the Sywassink Award for Excellence in Research.

Before joining the faculty at Appalachian in 2017, Dr. Hadley served as an assistant professor of finance at California State University - San Bernardino. She is a two-time App State alumna, having earned her bachelor’s in finance and insurance in 2009 and her MBA in 2011. Dr. Hadley earned her Ph.D. in finance from the University of Tennessee.

The Thompson Professorship was established in 2016 to honor Bowden Investment Group co-advisor and finance lecturer David A. Thompson. The fully endowed professorship continues the legacy of outstanding teaching and advising of the Bowden Investment Group, which provides students hands-on investment experience to students at Appalachian State University.
