App State to host inaugural analytics summit April 28

The Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University will host an Analytics Summit on Friday, April 28.

The event is for industry professionals, community members, faculty and students who are interested in using data and harnessing analytics for professional success. 

Speakers

Speakers include the vice president of data analytics at Lowe’s Companies and a member of the Board of CDO Magazine, a founding member of the IBM Watson IoT business unit and IoT Division, the mastermind behind the GameDay Decision Analytics Platform, a corporate speaker analyst who used predictive analytics to produce 10,000 employees in two and one half years, a manager of operational planning at Volvo, focusing on sustainable logistics solutions, and a department chair from Eastern Tennessee State University who has authored two books on analytics.

Register Online

Admission is $50.00 for staff, students and faculty and $75.00 for professionals. 

Individuals or organizations can sponsor students to attend, and proceeds from the event will fund scholarships for analytics students with financial need.

Register online by April 21.

Student Competition

A student competition, with categories for lower undergraduate, upper undergraduate and graduate student groups, accompanies the event.

The student competition is sponsored by Volvo North America, which will be providing the case and data.

The Analytics Summit is coordinated by the Walker College's Office of Professional Education, which is dedicated to promotion of certifications and knowledge to non-traditional students across Western North Carolina
