The Triple E Award (previously Green E Award) recognizes individuals for outstanding accomplishments in the area of sustainable business at Appalachian State University. The "E" stands for Economy, Environment and Equity.

The 2024 Global Opportunities Conference took place on Friday, September 13th, in the Plemmons Student Union. The event featured keynote speaker Donald Addu, who delivered an address titled “Climate and the Market: Capitalism and Corporate America’s Role in Solving the Climate Crisis.” Participants also attended one of four breakout sessions led by speakers Andee Burton, Laura England, Bailey Evans, Bill Johnston, Sirisha Karra, Nicholas Poggioli, and Scott Subler. These sessions covered topics such as eco-conscious apparel, biodiversity, carbon credits, and pursuing a career in sustainable business. The 2023 Global Opportunities Conference was held on Friday, November 10th in the Grandfather Mountian Ballroom. Participants heard from insight speakers: Joel Olsen, Delphin Ruché, Schumata Brown, and John Bender. The audience learned about citizen science and regenerative tourism in the Arctic ecosystems of Norway, got an insider's perspective on building the local economy while preserving its natural beauty in coastal Jones County, NC, and learned about the potential positive impact of Boone’s first sustainable bed and breakfast.
