The Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University is committed to advancing sustainable business practices that promote responsible management of economic, social, and natural resources. Business for Good is a one-day event for faculty, staff, students and invited guests to learn and share how sustainable business practices relate to us all. Triple E Awards

The Triple E Award (previously Green E Award) recognizes individuals for outstanding accomplishments in the area of sustainable business at Appalachian State University. The "E" stands for Economy, Environment and Equity.

2024 Conference

The 2024 Global Opportunities Conference took place on Friday, September 13th, in the Plemmons Student Union. The event featured keynote speaker Donald Addu, who delivered an address titled “Climate and the Market: Capitalism and Corporate America’s Role in Solving the Climate Crisis.” Participants also attended one of four breakout sessions led by speakers Andee Burton, Laura England, Bailey Evans, Bill Johnston, Sirisha Karra, Nicholas Poggioli, and Scott Subler. These sessions covered topics such as eco-conscious apparel, biodiversity, carbon credits, and pursuing a career in sustainable business. 2023 Conference

The 2023 Global Opportunities Conference was held on Friday, November 10th in the Grandfather Mountian Ballroom. Participants heard from insight speakers: Joel Olsen, Delphin Ruché, Schumata Brown, and John Bender. The audience learned about citizen science and regenerative tourism in the Arctic ecosystems of Norway, got an insider's perspective on building the local economy while preserving its natural beauty in coastal Jones County, NC, and learned about the potential positive impact of Boone’s first sustainable bed and breakfast. 2022 Conference

On Friday, September 23, 2022, Business for Good featured Brian Matt, head of ESG Advisory for the New York Stock Exchange; Jordan Feigh, Sustainability and Product Stewardship Manager, UNIFI; and Michael Winters, President & Chief Revenue Officer, WinCup. View the program.

2020 Virtual Conference

Appalachian's Walker College of Business hosted a panel discussion about Beyond Zero, an inspirational roadmap for how business can reverse climate change. Attendees received exclusive, pre-release access to the award winning documentary Beyond Zero.
