Economics Department releases March newsletter

The Department of Economics at Appalachian State University has released its March newsletter for students majoring or minoring in economics. 
App State Master of Business Administration student Karlee Cook has analyzed data from 1.6 million births spanning 15 years, with preliminary findings linking lower birth weight and preterm birth to chemical accident sites in North Carolina.

Appalachian State University’s Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) has aided small businesses in North Carolina during the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of its efforts, the center helped a company develop a new business stream: producing COVID-related retail signage and floor decals, such as the one pictured, to promote physical distancing and the wearing of face coverings.
Students are pictured in 2018 outside Appalachian State University’s Kenneth E. Peacock Hall, which houses the university’s Walker College of Business. Walker College and its on-campus MBA program have been recognized among the best in the nation for 2021, according to The Princeton Review.
